An online news website named Cameroon Update (www.cameroonupdate.com) is reporting that one of Cameroon’s Member of Parliament, Hon. Emilia Lifaka, has received 30 Million CFA to mobilize 5800 people from Douala and Limbe to welcome the CPDM flagbearer Paul Biya who’s expected in Buea, in the days ahead.
According to the website, the Member of Parliament is allegedly hiring people from Douala and Limbe to pose as supporters of the party in Buea is bad faith and only goes to show the level at which the Elites of Fako Division have become unpopular with their people.
Here is what was publish on Cameroonupdate.com
“Hon. Emilia Lifaka, Fako Divisional Coordinator of the Cameroon People Democratic Movement (CPDM) party, is allegedly mobilising militants from Douala and Limbe, to grace the imminence of their Presidential Candidate, and incumbent President, Paul Biya, while he visits Buea, Southwest Regional Capital.
In a classified cable exclusively leaked to this reporter, the Member of Parliament, who has collected 30 million CFA from party bigwigs, on grounds of mobilising supporters to massively grace the presence of H.E. Paul Biya, shelved foot militants and diehards of the party in Buea and its environs, to import sympathisers from the blues.
One thing is clear, haven lost authority of the people of her constituency given her long abandonment in the face of the ongoing battle with separatist fighters, Hon. Lifika resorted for soft targets; that of importing militants far and wide, to boost her fading popularity.
All her attempts to plead with the people of Bonjongo wade on her side, fell on deaf ears, as the people vehemently refused to bail her out amidst the visit of the Head of State to Buea.
Hon. Emilia Lifaka told the organising committee that with the 30 million she would mobilize five thousand eight hundred (5800) people to pose as CPDM supporters during the visit of the Head of State.
Here are her projections:
She has projected that she is going to hire eight hundred (800) people from Douala, Littoral Region to impersonate as supporters of Fako Division with each bagging home the sum of 15000 FCFA; hence, summing up to twelve million CFA (12,000,000) for 800 people from Douala.
Meanwhile, she will hire five thousand people (5000) from Limbe and each of them will be paid three thousand francs (3000frs) summing up to fifteen million.
Meantime, the remaining three million will be used for transportation and equally be shared to dance groups that will be performing on that day.
What a deceit to the Yaoundé authorities from someone of her calibre who is supposed to be a role model to many?
The truth is, she knows that it is impossible to hire 800 people from Douala to post as CPDM supporters in Buea and she equally knows that it is impossible to hire up to 5000 people from Limbe to represent the people of Bonjongo and their environs, yet she made the unrealistic projections so that the money will be giving to her just to keep it to herself after the visit because there will be no follow up.
If truly Fako Elites are popular among their people, why will they need to hire people from Douala? and why will those in Buea need to charter people from Limbe to represent the peace-loving people of Buea? Why will supporters even be paid if they are coming to supports their flag bearer?
Questions sans réponse!
One thing stands tall, the visit of the Head of State has come to expose all those elites who have fallen out with their people.”
